The mission of the QOV Foundation is to give every wounded and injured service member, whether from physical or psychological, a wartime quilt called a Quilt of Valor. The foundation was established in 2003 by a mother when her son’s unit was deployed to Iran. Aiming to offer comfort, quilters have rallied to this effort and over 20,000 quilts have been donated thus far. The effort is not about politics. It is about the people helping other people, as well as saying “Thank You,” to those who serve and protect our citizens and our country. The minimum size is 50” x 60” and the maximum size is 72” x 87”. Quilts must have a label. A preservation pillowcase is also appreciated. Some military bases only accept red-white-blue colored quilts, reflecting patriotism (quilt on left, below). Others accept all themes and colors of quilts (e.g. one on right depicting America the Beautiful).
