Philanthropy Quilting — Kara Walker from VITAS Healthcare will present a short talk on the hospice program and their memory bears. There will also be presentations from our QU philanthropy groups on the work they are doing, if they are looking for new members, and sharing any needs they have. QU members are encouraged to share any needs they are aware of in the community to hopefully find someone in the group that help.

Upcycling and Restyling — Carole Gentry and Tracy Wade will present on how to upcycling vintage quilts and linens into new works of art. They will include how to source the materials, clean and care for them, and ideas for what to make from them.

Marcia Layton (author, pattern designer, teacher) will present a lecture and trunk show called ‘From Handprints to Yo-Yos!’ detailing her whimsical painted and appliqué quilts that have a lot of texture and dimension from hand embroidery, bead and button trims, ribbons, rick-rack and yo-yos. She will provide two workshops that weekend as well. More details coming soon!
NOTE: In January, Janet Taylor will be meeting with Temple Israel and will check with them to be sure we can have our meeting on this date that falls very close to the start of Rosh Hashanah. If not, it will be shifted earlier or later in September.

Aliens and UFOs!! – We will talk about unfinished objects (UFOs!), discuss how to motivate yourself to finish them, and give an opportunity to share some of them with the members and recruit suggestions. We all get stuck on some projects, so let’s share and get some ideas!

Quilted Garments & Accessories Fashion Show — All members are invited to bring their quilted garments or wearable accessories to show them off to the group and share pattern suggestions and ideas. There will be a fashion show at the beginning of the meeting!
