Philanthropy – Pillowcases for Spinal Cord Unit

September 4, 2025 by Quilter

QU is making pillowcases for the Spinal Cord Unit.

We would like the fabric to be colorful with masculine prints such as fishing, hunting, tractors, animals or anything of that nature.

Directions for the Spinal Cord Unit Pillowcases:

•Cut one yard of fabric. Trim off the selvages.
•Place the edges where the selvages had been, together with the right sides of the fabric facing out.
•Sew a quarter inch seam along these long edges and a quarter inch seam along the folded bottom edge.
•Turn the case inside out. Press.
•Along the long edge sew a seam half an inch wide. This will enclose the first seam.
•Sew a half inch wide seam along the bottom of the case, enclosing this seam.
•Turn the case so the right side of the fabric is showing.
•Along the raw edge at the top, fold the edge in toward the wrong side of the fabric and stitch a quarter inch all around the case.
•Then fold the top in four and one half inches, pin in place, and then sew.
•Trim any loose threads and the case is complete.

Please bring your finished pillowcase to the QU Meetings in September or October and give it to Roberta Granville. If you have any questions, please contact Roberta.
