Quilters Unlimited has two annual member awards, one for Distinguished Quilter and one for Volunteer of the Year.

Requests for nominations begin two months before the deadline and will be posted in the newsletter.

Hint: The more information you provide about your nominee, the better! The committee makes its decision based on the nomination forms.

For those who have requested more time to think about who deserves these awards, start thinking now for the Distinguished Quilter award, and keep an eye on our wonderful volunteers for those who go above and beyond for Volunteer of the Year.

Each winner receives a certificate and $50 check.

Congratulations to Wendy Adams, winner of the 2025 Volunteer of the Year award.
Wendy has been a major contributor in guild philanthropy efforts, donating huge quantities of fabrics and kits for charitable quilts. She made last year’s opportunity quilt, does long-arm quilting for guild members, hosts classes, supports the Tallahassee Museum as well as Sleep in Heavenly Peace, assists with our guild shows and served as door prize chair this past year.

All of this, as well as her encouragement, kindness and enthusiasm, has earned her the gratitude and appreciation of the guild.

January Program

The January 8th program will be Kerry Cohen presenting on the Kona Color of the Year (Wander- a soft green). Kerry will hand out 5″ square samples of the fabric and make suggestions on how it can be used in your quilts.

February Program

It is my pleasure to announce the ‘Trash to Treasure Sale’ at the February 13th guild meeting. Like an indoor garage sale for quilty items (notions, fabric, scraps, patterns, etc.). Members can reserve a table in advance for $5, delivered in either cash or check (made out to Quilters Unlimited) to Tracy Wade at the January guild meeting or mailed to the guild (address below) before the night of the meeting. Please reserve your table with Tracy prior to mailing check to ensure availability.

The tables will be arranged to allow for the business meeting to still occur. Set up of sales tables will occur prior to the meeting and shopping will begin at the meeting’s end. Members that reserve a table are responsible for pricing their items before the sale, setting up and taking down their items and collecting their own monies. We will have volunteers to break down the tables.

35 members submitted quilts with 54 quilts displayed including Challenge Quilts. Two quilts sold with proceeds to quilter and LeMoyne.

$972 was dispersed to QU for their 60% of the Silent Auction. 3 items had no bids and were returned to the donor. 2 items were not picked up 30 days after the Silent Auction ended and were returned to the donor.

$1,000 was collected for Opportunity Quilt ticket donations. Darlene Pricher, a QU member, was the lucky winner of the quilt.

The Gallery Shop Manager was happy with sales and is reviewing any remaining items for inclusion in the Holiday Show which started November 15. All proceeds went to LeMoyne, but it’s estimated between $450 and $500 in sales.

Quilto was another success with 50 seats available and 48 filled. Sue Isaac’s “Modern Quilts” artist’s talk was standing room only.

The Show Opening reception was very well attended and included many non-QU members, YEA. This is anecdotal information; we didn’t ask for final attendance numbers asked or were they given by LeMoyne.

Sue Isaac was the highest bid item in the Silent Auction and will have her dues paid for 2026.

Bits and Pieces received $20 for having the highest bid item for a group Silent Auction Donation.
