QU Show Silent Auction

August 2, 2024 by Quilter

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who submitted items for the Silent Auction. As I mentioned in the July meeting, all of the items are beautiful and well deserving of high price bids. Don’t be surprised to see my name and bid on several items as I can’t resist the urge to purchase such spectacular specimens of creative work. I am assembling and grouping the items for placement on the website for the online auction. My plan is to have the items placed in a respective category (full quilts, lap quilts, youth quilts, crib quilts, wall hangings, purses, and table items) with a picture or pictures and a narrative to describe the item. I am hopeful I will be able to have a period of time for you to review what I wrote up about your item in case you see a need for some “editorial” advice. I will let you know if I am able to have a “preview” time before the auction is open to the public. I am still working on those logistics for a “preview” option. Post “preview”, the plan is to have the QR code and website open to the public by August 20. This will allow people to bid on items before the actual show opens. Of course, I encourage people to come to the fair to actually see the quilts or items you want to bid on but if all else fails the online option is always available.

I am unable to attend the August meeting, so if you have a last-minute item, please contact me via email or phone (contact information can be found in the directory) to arrange a pick up. I really need you to provide the name of the person who pieced and/or quilted the item including the year completed so I can give credit to the individual(s) when I post the item for viewing. It is important to have the size listed also. We want to be able to get a sense for what the item is worth in materials and labor so if you could provide a minimum bid that would be helpful to me. Successful bidders will pick up their item at the end of the quilt show Monday or Tuesday at the latest. You will get an item back at the end of the show if the minimum for it is not met by a bidder. I highly doubt that will occur as each and every item is well worth several if not hundreds of bids.

QU Show Silent Auction Update

July 1, 2024 by Quilter

Please submit all your Silent Auction items no later than July 31. I am accepting items at the Guild meeting or you can find my contact info in this month’s Around the Block. I really need you to provide the name of the person who pieced and/or quilted the item including the year completed so I can give credit to the individual(s) when I post the item for viewing. It is important to have the size listed also. We want to be able to get a sense of what the item is worth in materials and labor so if you could provide a minimum bid that would be helpful to me. You will get an item back at the end of the show if the minimum for it is not met by a bidder.

I have a good selection of items but can always use more to show off our Guild expertise.

As stated in previous newsletters: Remember the donations can include any sewn or quilted item such as quilts, wall hangings, purses, place mats, table runners, necklaces, ragdolls or such. *PLEASE NOTE: The boutique will be selling cosmetic-size bags, book covers, pet collars and backpacks so keep that in mind as we do not want to compete with the boutique.

As a reminder, the participant who brings in the most money for a single donated item will receive their next year’s QU dues (2025) gratis. Please note that the award is for a single entry and does not include the total of an individual’s multiple entries. However, we do encourage multiple entries if you so desire. The Sit N Stitch group that brings in the most money for a group donation will receive a $20 gift certificate, given to the contact person named in the directory, to use at one of your upcoming Sit N Stitch sessions.

QU Show TEAM Boutique Update – July

July 1, 2024 by Quilter

Thank you to those who created amazing boutique items and turned them in at the guild meetings. You have exceeded our expectations!

When I made a shout out to membership for “strippers” last month to be used to create a decorative banner – boy did the strips come flying!

Remember completed kits are due at the JULY / AUGUST QU Meetings. Please get with Dawn to make arrangements to get the completed items to her if you are NOT able to attend the meetings

We are in need of:

  • Gift bags (all sizes)
  • Plastic or wooden clothes pens
  • White sheets (Queen/King sizes we can borrow)
  • Decorative baskets (that we can borrow)

NOTE: Please bring either to the meeting or arrange with Dawn for pickup – remember to put your name on the item so they can be returned.

We will be selling any items not sold at the show at the September QU meeting.

Special shout out to the Bodacious Boutique Team Members who have worked very hard since January producing the kits and creating wonderful items: Ann Gaber, Deborah Kelly, Shellie Johnson, Andrea Fenn and Ellen Fournier, all members of Frayed Edges, particularly Linda O’Sullivan, Susan Wallace and Linda Patton.

What a team. Huge Hug! Dawn Griffin

OPPORTUNITY BASKETS

July 1, 2024 by Quilter

At our 2024 Quilt Show, we would like to offer 10 different baskets. So far I have a commitment for 6 baskets, so I need 4 more. This is a great opportunity for a Sit and Stitch group to put together a basket.
Some suggestions for baskets are the following:

  • Wine and Chocolate
  • Movie Night (popcorn/candy/drinks, etc.)
  • Quilter’s Dream (assorted quilting items)
  • Coffees, Teas and breakfast treats
  • Spa Basket

These are only a few suggestions; I trust your imagination to come up with some spectacular baskets!
Please see me at the guild meeting or send me a text (my info is in directory) if you are willing to make a basket.

Thank you again for your support.
